The space Leonora curates in class is something I really value… the invitation to check in as-is and come away feeling more open is an hour very well spent for my overall sense of wellbeing.
Leonora helps me get into my body and feel where movements start. It’s both awakening and grounding. A great way to start the day!
I have really enjoyed my Feldenkrais journey with Leonora so far. I find her teaching manner very clear, calm and supportive. And the incremental movement of Feldenkrais is very meditative. I intend to continue her online classes from Australia.
I’ve never done anything like that before and it’s made me realise how much I am missing by just sitting here thinking things through. I need to get up more - shout, move, and go up and down the bounce scale a few times.
The progression of the exercise was interesting, how each activity led to a greater understanding of your whole purpose. It was as if when we got to the final incarnation of the gesture/phrase we were looking through a clearer lens. The ‘embodiment’ part was new and surprisingly instructive
It was interesting being given the time, space, and gentle prodding to actually embody these things. Feeling into the shape, gestures, and physicality of my self-description was incredibly useful. I could actually feel what I was writing, or what I want to write.
Something surprising was how powerful embodiment is to embodiment. LOL. Thinking it thru doesn’t work nearly as well as embodying it… but we humans tend to default to thinking without movement. It’s so limiting!
It is interesting how a "technique" of movement concerning the body can be used and modified in other arts besides dance and music.
I was surprised to engage with the material in a new way from what I ever have before and the way is caused me to ask questions I have asked before from a new perspective and insight.
It was surprising how mark-making as a concept and a tool helped spark other ideas on space and surface relations.
It was useful to experience the endless inspiration from drawing, moving on different planes, revisiting one after the other, allowing one to inform the other.
